About Serena

Serena Tam is the co-founder and co-director of SDG, where she leads alongside her husband, Diamond, with a joyful mix of creativity, organization, and heart. Whether she’s planning costumes, choosing music, teaching from the Bible, or making sure every detail runs smoothly, Serena’s fingerprints can be found on every part of the school.

Born in Hong Kong and raised in Northern California, Serena earned her bachelor’s degree in graphic design from San Jose State University. Her lifelong passion for the arts—and for communicating truth through beautiful design—has been woven together with her deep commitment to ministry. She began serving in leadership during her college years in campus ministry, went on to lead in her church’s college ministry, and has since continued in a variety of roles, from home groups and children’s ministry to planning and leadership in local homeschool co-op groups.

At SDG, Serena pours her energy into creating an environment where students not only grow as dancers but also as people who love what is good and true. Her greatest desire is to see the name of Christ glorified through the arts and through the lives of each student. Guided by Colossians 3:23—“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men”—she leads with diligence, joy, and a genuine love for the SDG community.
