Ballet Technique
Ballet is the foundation for many formal dance styles. Ballet classes will be taught using the Conrad placement method and a Russian-style syllabus. Training will focus on teaching students the basics of ballet: correct posture, turnout, and weight placement. Ballet classes balance strength and flexibility training and foster a great work ethic in children. Using physical, verbal, and visual cues, students should be equipped to understand ballet technique with a variety of learning methods.

Students will advance through different levels by having mastered specific techniques set for each level. Each student may advance at different speed pending their body type, focus, and practice. Starting at Beginners level 3, students will be required to complete examination in order to advance to the next level.

Worship Dance
All Levels
This class is designed to take the “building blocks” of the ballet class and transition the steps and technique to be used specifically to worship the Lord. Students will learn choreography to a worship song, which they will then present to parents at the end of the term. In addition to learning the steps to a worship song, students are encouraged to develop their artistry and expression in this class, as well as connect personally with the Lord and grow in their faith.
Body Conditioning + Contemporary
Intermediate+ Only
Beginning with a body conditioning warmup designed to strengthen the muscles dancers use in ballet training, this class is a perfect supplement to regular ballet classes.
The second half of the class focuses on contemporary style, incorporating elements of ballet and modern dance. Contemporary classes give students opportunities to develop creativity and expression and expand on ballet’s foundation with elements such as floor work and a freer, full-body range of motion.
Regular ballet training is a prerequisite for enrollment in contemporary classes.
Adult Ballet and Worship Choreography
All Levels
Adult ballet classes are also available! Looking to have fun and get fit? Always wanted to dance but never had the opportunity? Adult ballet classes are for you! In addition to learning simple ballet exercises, these classes also provide an opportunity to dance to worship music and build relationships within a Christian community.
SDG Christian Dance Fellowship
The SDG Dance Fellowship exists to create a community of dancers whose mission is to build each other up in their faith, as they pursue dance for the purpose of worshipping God and to proclaim the message of Jesus to the world by touring and performing. It meets bi-weekly on Saturdays to rehearse for productions that are to be performed in various venues like churches, schools, retirement homes, hospitals, and malls just to name a few.
