About Diamond
Dr. Diamond Tam is the co-founder and co-director of SDG, where he leads alongside his wife, Serena, with a shared passion for excellence, creativity, and Christ-centered community. Originally from Vancouver, British Columbia, Diamond now calls Ontario home, where he also serves as an ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery, as well as glaucoma care. His career has taken him across the globe— from medical school in Ireland to advanced specialty training in New Haven, Connecticut; San Francisco, California; and Toronto, Ontario — and even to the academic classroom, serving as an Assistant Professor at Stanford University, a role that reflects his deep love for both teaching and lifelong learning.
But long before he was a surgeon, Diamond was an artist at heart. He earned his ARCT piano diploma at just 10 years old, and went on to achieve multiple performance diplomas from the London College of Music and the Royal Schools of Music in the UK. His love for music has brought him to perform internationally in Japan, France, and the Netherlands, as well as on television and in print media. In addition to music and the arts, Diamond also enjoys martial arts training, valuing its discipline, focus, and continual growth—qualities he carries into every aspect of life and leadership.
Most importantly, Diamond’s life is rooted in his faith in Jesus Christ. Guided by the truth of 1 Corinthians 10:31—“Whatever you do, do all to the glory of God”—he serves as the Director of Men’s Ministry at Hope Bible Church Oakville and is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. At SDG, Diamond brings both vision and care, providing spiritual leadership while cheering on each student and staff member to grow in skill, confidence, and joy.
